I do not hold credit for any of the above, unless stated.
“ There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroad, afraid, confused, without a roadmap. The choices we make in those moments can define the rest of our days. Of course when faced with the unknown, most of us prefer to turn around and go back. ”

Christmas at Hay’s Galleria | Mark-Spokes.com
Hay’s Galleria is located a stones throw away from Tower Bridge and is named after after its original owner, the merchant Alexander Hay, who acquired the property - then a brewhouse - in 1651. Initially it was a ‘Wharf’ (a building on the shore of a harbour where ships may dock to load and unload their cargo) and at its height, 80% of the dry produce imported to London passed through the wharf, due to this, the Wharf was nicknamed ‘the Larder of London’. After being largely rebuilt after the Great Fire of Southwark in 1861, it was badly damaged during German Bombing Raids during World War II. This, coupled with the fact that trade based upon the River Thames drastically declined after WWII led to the surrounding area being largely destitute.
An urban regeneration project in the 1980’s led to Hay’s Wharf being renamed Hay’s Galleria and now provides office space as well as a number of boutique outlets. In a fountain at the centre of the Galleria is a 60 ft moving bronze sculpture of a ship, called ‘The Navigators’ by sculptor David Kemp, unveiled in 1987 to commemorate the Galleria’s shipping heritage. The lights wrapped around the pillars are present all year round - the Christmas tree, naturally - is not.
“ Don’t try to make life a mathematics problem with yourself in the center and everything coming out equal. When you’re good, bad things can still happen. And if you’re bad, you can still be lucky. ”
